Windmill museum De Valk

Everyone is familiar with the typical Dutch windmills, but have you ever wondered what the inside of such a mill looks like? To discover and admire this, the City Windmill Museum De Valk is the perfect place to visit. The City Windmill Museum De Valk is a post mill from 1743 and a true icon of Leiden.

The museum features seven floors, and the real milling operation can be seen on the top three floors. On the ground floor, you can enter a miller’s house, and from the gallery, you have a beautiful view over the entire city!

Public transport

The City Windmill Museum De Valk is located in the beautiful city of Leiden. It is easy to reach by public transport. Located just a 10-minute walk from our hotel is Sassenheim Train Station. Four times an hour, a train departs for Leiden Centraal Station. The train journey takes just 6 minutes, and the walk from Leiden Centraal Station to the City Windmill Museum De Valk is also just 6 minutes.

The museum is also accessible by bus. From the Viaduct, Warmond bus stop, which is a 7-minute walk from our hotel, you can take the direct Arriva bus connection (Qliner 50) to Leiden Centraal Station. From the bus stop near Leiden Centraal Station, it’s only a 6-minute walk to the City Windmill Museum De Valk.

Parking

If you prefer to drive to the City Windmill Museum De Valk, this is certainly possible. Via the A44 motorway, you can reach the museum in 13 minutes. Parking is available at the Lammermarkt Parking Garage, located next to the museum.
