National Museum Boerhaave

At National Museum Boerhaave, you can explore the major discoveries from Dutch scientific history, including astronomy, medicine, and physics. The museum is one of several national museums in Leiden and is named after the scientist Herman Boerhaave. He worked in Leiden at the University and was the director of Hortus Botanicus Leiden.

In addition to its permanent exhibition, National Museum Boerhaave also features changing exhibitions on various themes.

Public transport

National Museum Boerhaave is easily accessible by public transport. Located a 10-minute walk from our hotel, Sassenheim Train Station provides a direct train service to Leiden Centraal Station, with departures four times an hour. The museum is about a 10-minute walk from Leiden Centraal Station. Alternatively, upon arriving at Leiden Centraal Station, you can take a bus to the museum. Parking

If you prefer to drive, you can reach National Museum Boerhaave in about 15 minutes via the A44 motorway. Parking is available at Haagweg Parking Lot in Leiden. Free shuttle buses run from the parking lot to the museum entrance and will return you to your car afterward.

Bike rental

At our hotel’s reception, we offer a range of high-quality bicycles for our guests to reserve in advance. We have both standard and electric bikes available at our bike rental. You can reach National Museum Boerhaave from our hotel in about 30 minutes by bike. Upon arrival, you can park your bike at Vrouwenkerkplein, located directly opposite the museum.
